Fund Allocation:

Funds will be used to finance the research necessary to successfully reintroduce wildlife to the Quiçama National Park. This will include locating suitable wild animals and transporting them to Angola. The training of personnel such as rangers as well as community educators for the education of the local population is also of vast importance.

Budget estimate:

During the first phase of the proposed rehabilitation, animals such as elephants, roan antelope, eland, dwarf forest buffalo, hippopotamus, southern reedbuck and waterbuck will need to be acquired from other countries. Money will also be needed to capture the dwarf forest buffalo, eland and roan antelope still present in Angola. Upgrading of the existing infrastructure such as roads and staff accommodation is essential as well as a radio communication system, vehicles, river patrol boats and various other items including darting equipment. The training of game rangers, a park warden, gate staff, technicians and other personnel is also of the utmost importance. Budget estimate for 2000-2004: 10 974 000,00 US dollars.
